Trained as a bench biochemist and molecular biologist, I worked in the wet lab until 2000. During the course of my work at Brookhaven National Laboratory, I started using a program for simulating chemical equilibria, and realized the power of programming. I retrained myself in software engineering, and obtained experience working in industry in a group of highly experienced software professionals. I combined my work experiences to lead the Reactome project at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory until May 2005. Now I have established a small company that enables me to collaborate with others. At present, I am involved in the CBioC project.
